Take Me To The Inn At Whitewell

Should I ever have a nervous breakdown, and, strike it lucky on the Postcode Lottery, I'll be knocking at the door at The Inn at Whitewell. I couldn't think of a more apt place to get away from it all than there. If you've never been, it's the most beautiful countryside inn tucked away in tranquil rural  Lancashire. Think green hills, tweeting birds and stillness. Not much to do except enjoy the view ... and the food ... and the drink ... and the Molton Brown toiletries ...

I was lucky enough to spend the night there last month as a guest at a family wedding. A beautiful day that ended with all sat outside under the stars until the early hours. The sort of evening that'll make you sigh at the memory when you're knee deep in emails back in the office. (will I ever not work in Admin?)

n.b. I haven't included any photos of the wedding party in this post. While I may be happy enough sharing all and sundry about my life, it wouldn't be the done thing to plaster someone's life on here would it. If you were hoping for a good old nosey at the Bride and Groom, apologies.

Have a nosey instead at our room. Room number 5, which happened to include a loo with a view. Something I never knew I'd find so impressive.

Speaking of impressive, I was also pretty keen on the tea tray. Fresh tea delivered to your room just a phone call away, complete with homemade shortbread fingers. The large bed, open log burner (for cosying up around on those chillier nights) and the characterful old furniture all got the thumbs up too.

If you can't pretend that you've made it sacheying your way around room number 5 while on the blower for "more tea please" then when can you?

Each room is decorated differently, so the only downside is the amount of time you'll spend choosing which one to go for, and the eventual disappointment when you have to leave your little picturesque home for the night and park your backside back on a regular loo... without a view.

You can always grab yourself a little memento to take home from the wine shop at reception. I'd suggest a bottle of something special from one of the independent wine merchants stocked, rather than the socks currently going for £125.00 a pair. (I kid you not).

It was a wonderful treat to stay at The Inn at Whitewell with not much to do except ... celebrate.

Thanks so much for reading. Hope you've all got a lovely week ahead.

Love,

Elaine x

  1. Gorgeous place, I just went here with someone. The party venue itself was beautiful and spacious, the seats were comfortable and wide. From where I was sitting at least, the views were great. I think the music really did a great job of filling up the space.
