Spending The Night At Saltmarshe Hall, East Yorkshire

Well hello again. How's tricks? I hope you're keeping your pecker up despite this weeks' surprise visit from Storm Emma. Chilly would be an understatement wouldn't it! Anyway, on a more positive note, I mentioned in my last post that I'd spent a lovely night away recently and, as promised, here's a little bit about our first mini getaway of 2018.
We spent a relaxing night at Saltmarshe Hall, East Yorkshire (in the Howdenshire Suite if you happen to be  interested). The Grade II listed hall is nestled away in beautiful parklands on the banks of the River Ouse and makes for a perfect countryside retreat.

The suite was heavenly, with a ginormous bed that could easily sleep four, an original feature fireplace, gorgeous sash windows and a river view. Have I sold it to you yet?
The best bit? The bath tub! If there's a nicer way to wile away a Saturday than in a bathtub with a view then I'd like to know about it.

*Drinking champagne from your bathtub with a view is the nicest way to wile away a Saturday. Put down the pumice stone pal and pass me the Pommery.

We enjoyed a three course dinner at the hall that evening. I had a mozzarella and tomato salad to start, followed by baked salmon, and a melt in the middle chocolate pudding.

I love having a nights getaway where you sleep and dine under the same roof. Get sozzled at dinner and slip away upstairs before anyones dignity takes a dent. It's just so easy and cosy...especially when there's a storm brewing outside.

Thanks so much for reading.

p.s A stately home will be a far cry from our next trip. We're going ... motor homing ... in March. Pray for us!
