A Hen Weekend In Amsterdam

Canal in Amsterdam

Hello from the tail end of a weekend in Amsterdam celebrating the hen party of one of my oldest friends from school.

It was a weekend that saw...amongst other things...fourteen hens and one bride to be cackling our way round the city on a Prosecco bike, embracing the local culture and getting lost for the best part of three hours, casually waking three hens from a Prosecco fuelled kip at the dinner table and one unfortunate hen settling down for the night on the bathroom floor.

All of the above AND set in one of my favourite cities made this weekend a blady good one. My only regret is missing the hen wax the stomach of a passing man dressed as an Arabian princess, which is a sentence I never thought I'd write.

While I recover from the weekend here's a few photos of Amsterdam, taken somewhere in-between celebrating and an enlightening trip to the sex museum.

Although I've done an Amsterdam photo diary before, which you can catch here, it's just far too pretty a city for me to resist posting just a few more snaps.

Something about the photo opportunities on every corner, the never ending choice of cafes and bars, and the relaxed atmosphere makes Amsterdam unlike anywhere else. I don't think I'll ever tire of the place. In fact I'm already mulling over a weekend in the winter. Just imagine it with Christmas lights!!!

You know when one of your best friends is marrying a fireman and your Prosecco bike pulls up for a break outside a fire station? Well that...

and yes they did offer to show her the fireman's hose.

It's been amazing to celebrate the hen party of one of my oldest and best friends this weekend. Doing it in Amsterdam was the icing on the cake.

Thanks so much for reading. If you don't follow already Not Your Nine To Five is on Twitter and Instagram!! x x

  1. Just looks amazing! Would love to do Hens Parties in Amsterdam, but a little bit far from Sydney. (

    1. Oh gosh that is a tad far! I'm lucky it's only a 50 minute flight from my neck of the woods. Amsterdam is amazing though. You never know maybe you'll end up there one day :)
      Thanks for your comment X

  2. Looks and sounds like you had a fab time! I loved my first visit to Amsterdam earlier this year and you are so right - it's so picturesque. I did my own photo diary here: http://bit.ly/1P8atpP
