There's been a definite post-holiday blues vibe in our humble abode since we got back from a long weekend away. When the biggest decisions you make each day are, is it too early for a cocktail and which restaurant shall we try, who can blame us?
What better time to take up the offer of trying the latest edition to the Ristorante pizza range, a limited edition large Pizza Salame Arrabiata. (Try saying that after a few drinks). We had a solid plan, beat the holiday blues with a mega easy to make dinner at home for two.
The large pizza is ideal for sharing, topped with mozzarella and Edam cheese, salami, yellow pepper, red onion and a spicy chilli sauce.
I have to admit we don't often opt for frozen food at home but Ristorante pizzas are prepared with fresh ingredients before they're frozen, so you won't end up with that guilty feeling afterwards. Lets face it, we all deserve the odd night off.
The pizza smelled delicious as it cooked, while we popped open a nice chilled bottle of white. Dr Oetker and the Manchester School of Wine have teamed up to create top tips for pairing your pizza with the ideal wine. How could we not give it a whirl after they've gone to all that trouble?
It was suggested to pair the Salame Arrabiata with a fruit and bold red, but due to the heatwave we're having at the moment we stole the pairing suggestion from the mozzarella and enjoyed a chilled Verdicchio Classico. Fancy no? You can't beat something refreshing and cooling in the heat.
You can see the pairing suggestions at www.pizzaristorante.co.uk if you fancy making your evening a bit different. Great for a girls night in…less time in the kitchen and more time gossiping.
The Salame Arrabiata had plenty of flavour, generous toppings and the chilli sauce gave it a nice little kick. I can confirm that there were no leftovers...of the pizza or of the bottle.
I read somewhere, "You can't buy happiness but you can pizza" ... true story.
Thanks so much for reading. Give us a shout if you try the pizza and wine pairing!
*I was invited to try the Ristorante Pizza but love of easy evenings at home all my own*
