Have a guess which blog graces page 94 of Blogosphere Magazine, Issue 9? Stone the crows it's only Not Your Nine To Five.
Yours truly has made it into the "In The Spotlight" final 3. A new feature launched to give every blogger who enters, which can be anyone, the opportunity to have their blog featured in the magazine. Bloggers who "deserve to be centre stage."
If making the final wasn't enough to have me humming S Club 7s 'Reach For The Stars' an invite to the Blogosphere Cover Reveal Party definitely was.
(Please accept my sincere apologies if that song sticks in your head)
Annoyingly catchy pop songs aside, on Wednesday I headed to Soho to celebrate the launch and find out which blogging star would be gracing the cover.
Spotting on Twitter beforehand that blogging Queen Hannah Gale would be attending the party I had a serious bout of Imposter Syndrome. I may or may not have then spent a little too long gawping and gasping at how many Twitter followers everyone else at the launch had, subsequently doing nothing to help my IS.
Travelling from the North I arrived at the venue unfashionably early then plonked myself in a nearby watering hole to re-arrive fashionably late. (but not too late, I figured half an hour in was a sort of 'nonchalantly prompt' time to arrive)
I've only been to one other blogging event which, coupled with the fact that I'm a relatively new blogger, left me feeling a little daunted attending the event alone. The thought of potentially mingling with some huge bloggers, while exciting, was also nerve racking.
Positive mantras a go go, and one Pear Bellini down, I trotted into the event.
It was such a relief to receive a friendly welcome from editor-in-chief Alice Audley as soon as I walked in. And no I'm not just sucking up because she's editor-in-chief! If I was sucking up I would write something about how lovely she looked on the night, which she absolutely did, but as I said I'm not sucking up.
I also got to meet Editorial Assistants Albertine Brandon and Elaine Malone, although briefly, launch party to co-ordinate and all that. It was so nice of them to make the effort to introduce themselves and really look after the guests.
Something about being pointed in the direction of the Prosecco stall told me it was going to be a good night. Delicious vegan canapés were handed out throughout the evening..a subtle hint to who the cover star was... while Hannah Trigwell performed a beautiful set as people began to mingle and guess who the cover star would be.
I nearly fell through the floor when Lindsey, fashion blogger behind Ropes Of Holland (the first blog I ever followed and one of my favourites) and Laura Jane Williams mastermind behind lifestyle blog Superlatively Rude and the unbelievably good book, Becoming, walked into the room.
There's something so exciting and unusual about suddenly being in the same room as bloggers who you've followed from the comfort of your sofa for years. Admiring them as their blogging careers have grown and grown and now here you are face to face. Surreal is the best word for it. Surreal and bloody exciting!
Tearing myself away from fangirling and hopefully not staring, I had a quick browse of the stalls showcasing Yes To natural skin and hair care products, You Beauty Box, and refreshments from Premier Estates Wine and Fentimans. I may have browsed the Premier Estates Wines stall more than once.
So, the main focus of the night. The reveal of the cover star!... Ella Grace Denton, Instagrammer and Blogger! Spoiler: her interview in Issue 9 about 'relationships, vegansim and the importance of life offline' is so motivational and thought provoking. Definitely worth the read if you pick up a copy.
The cover reveal party was genuinely a lot of fun. Thank you so much to Blogosphere Magazine for including me in Issue 9. It's been such a good experience, a milestone for Not Your Nine To Five and naturally something for my Mum to tell her friends about.
Thank you also for the amazing goody bag! I've got one seriously good pamper session lined up!
